Filming Diary day 1

Our first day of filming required us to wake up at 5:00 in order to travel to our filming location. As one member of the group and the protagonist lives near each other, they met each other at 5:30 at the bus stop, which then they travelled to meet the second member of the group and together they went to the location and started to film. However there was a specific reason why we had to get up at this time, the sun rises at the time we went to the location. Hence, we needed some footage in the dark to create tension and suspense, some whilst the sunrises and some in the light. We managed to come up with most of the filming as everyone was on-point, and nothing came in the way. We filmed:
  • The protagonist leaving his house in the location
  • Many shots of the protagonist running in the area
  • Shots of the protagonist jumping obstacles
  • Many shots from objects such as car mirrors and doors
  • Shots that end up in a twist. for example, we filmed a shot of the protagonist running however the shot ends with the number '13', representing bad luck.

  1. CURRENT POSTS TO CHANGE/IMPROVE/ADD TO

    • Go through THE WHOLE BLOG, making sure that you have deleted any posts that are either duplicates or mistakes (for instance the Lovefield analysis at the start, the Rollin’ with the Nines Poster analysis). I would delete the post on ‘Ideas for Fonts’ at the beginning, as this doesn’t add anything.

    • I would also try to broadly organize your posts into 3 main sections, labeling all the relevant posts (everything until the sample shots) as ‘Research & Planning’ (in the section that says labels on the right hand side of blogger when you are editing your posts), then labeling the relevant posts as ‘Film Production’, ‘Poster Production’ & ‘Magazine Production’ and finally labeling relevant posts as ‘Evaluation’.

    • Please add some more details on the Misfits de-saturation effect, maybe including a video clip too?

    • DO NOT IGNORE THIS!!!!- You MUST have 3 analyses of film magazine reviews & place these after the poster analyses at the start of your blog, focusing on use of conventions, style, layout etc.

    • You also need to add another 3 analyses of short films (including one from previous students) and embed these films, or at least a selection of still images & a link. I would also add one more analyses of a students’ poster, in place of the Rollin’ with the Nines one, as this is actually a DVD cover. You could add this, instead, as an inspiration, perhaps. YOU NEED TO SORT THESE OR ELSE YOU CANNOT ACHIEVE THE GRADES THAT YOU WANT FOR RESEARCH & PLANNING!!!

    • Your brand identity PowerPoint slide needs completing.

    • You should also upload a shooting script/shot list, added just after the storyboard. Look at Hyder’s to see how one is completed without any dialogue.

    • You target audience profile should go after your questionnaires & interview posts at the start of the blog. Also, I would put the drafts of the magazine & poster earlier in the research & planning, and the costume inspiration along with the others there too. The production logo inspiration posts should go before your posts on the production logo, with a couple of lines noting what it was about these images that inspired you.

    • Add the character profile & personnel in the earlier research & planning (after costumes, perhaps).

    • Add the video for the fast track shot inspiration and talk about how you intend to shoot this next time for a better effect.

    • I would separate your research & planning diary, so that it shows that you have added this to the early part of the blog as you went along. With the filming diary too, move this so that it is added before & after the rough cut, to show the sense of progression.

    NEW POSTS TO ADD:

    • Put a selection of original images for the poster after the final filming diary post, with reasons why you chose the background & main images. You could add something about the choice of main font here too perhaps.

    • After this add in the screen captures of the poster in progress & the experimental poster too, noting what things you tried and why.

    • Then add in feedback post for the poster, with your comment on how you will improve.

    • Then do the same for the magazine- adding a selection of screen grabs of the film that you thought of using, then the screen captures of the magazine in progress (you could even put in the background that you created on Photoshop here too) and finally feedback on the magazine review.

    • Then add in a post for poster/magazine diary that outlines some of the key things you did for these two products.

    • Post of your final film. (maybe another post with a link/screen-grab of a facebook page too?)

    • Post of your finished poster.

    • Post of your finished magazine review.

    • Post that outlines key design features of your evaluation (colour scheme, fonts, backgrounds etc)

    • Final post of evaluation as a movie.

    • Overall, including the changes/additions to the older posts, you have at least 15-20 more posts to add.
